Piloting our new education QA model – what you need to know

27 Nov 2020

We are progressing as planned to implement our new education quality assurance model in September 2021. Key benefits for providers are:

  • Embedded flexibility, to move away from a one size fits all approach
  • Reduced burden, by considering past interactions and externally sourced data and intelligence to focus attention on areas that require it
  • Move away from a quality compliance model, to a relationships-led approach at the institution level
  • Add value through identifying what is working well, and recognising high performing providers

What this means for you

Unless we have identified you as an ‘early adopter’, our interactions remain the same for the remainder of the 2020-21 academic year. You still need to flag significant change through a change notification form, return your annual monitoring declarations by the deadline noted in programme specific correspondence, and request approval for new programmes in the normal way.

Pilots are about to commence

Since the QA model was signed off by our Education and Training Committee, we have spent time operationalising the concept, and planning for evaluating the model through pilot activities.

We have selected pilot providers which are representative of the professions we regulate, education and training models, and the four countries (and regions within). If you are not involved in the pilot, you can be confident that the model is being evaluated and improved by providers like yourself.

Other ways of getting involved

We created the model in a co-production environment with key stakeholders and will continue to do so.

  • Thank you to those who completed our survey, which had questions about provider interactions with the new model. We are currently analysing survey results and will take this insight forward into development.
  • We will run workshops and webinars for education providers when we hit ‘scale up’ activities, which will be informed by our learning through pilots and your needs to understand the new model.
  • Engagement with the Council of Deans of Health via workshops, which will continue through the pilot period. If you would like to inform these discussions, please speak to your representative that sits on this group.
  • And finally, you can always get in touch with the team responsible for this work directly by emailing EducationQAPilot@hcpc-uk.org
