Promoting public health and preventing ill-health

We have introduced new standards about promoting public health and preventing ill-health. This is one theme within the key changes to the updated standards of proficiency for all professions.

Preceptorship for internationally recruited registrants

For HCPC registrants who have come to work in the UK via our international registration route, preceptorship can provide a way to support acculturation to both their new working environment and to living in the UK.

Upskilling and training responsibilities

Our changes provide further guidance around scope of practice and highlight the need to make sure registrants have the knowledge, skills and experience to practise safely and effectively.

Employer webinar - English language proficiency review and revising the standards of conduct, performance and ethics

An online session for employers or managers of HCPC registrants, looking at the HCPC's English language proficiency review and revising the standards of conduct, performance and ethics.

Diversity data: hearing aid dispensers - March 2023

Executive summary

Based on our recent assessments of education providers and programmes, these reports set out a ‘state of the nation’ for education and training in the 15 professions we regulate.

Future areas of focus

In the 2024-25 academic year and beyond we are focusing on three key areas as we continue to play our part in responding to the challenges identified.

Working with our stakeholders

Consultation on HCPC registration fees

We are consulting on proposals to increase our registration fees. If adopted, the changes would be effective from 1 October 2019 and existing registrants would pay the new renewal fee when their profession next renews its registration.

Retention should continue to be a top priority

New analysis of HCPC data suggests that, despite 14 of the 15 professions that we regulate growing in numbers, retention remains an issue.
