Meet Mary, a Professor of Biomedical Sciences at Ulster University. She is also a Panel Member and Lead Visitor.
What is your role here at the HCPC and what do you do?
I am an HCPC Fitness to Practise Member and Visitor.
What do you like most about being a Partner?
I enjoy learning about all the regulations and the law associated with FTP cases. I also enjoy meeting other Partners and learning from them. I have found this role to be challenging and very rewarding. I have learned so much and really enjoy the whole process of the hearings.
What are the challenges?
It takes a lot of time to read all the documents and keep notes on each case, then apply the regulations. So the role is very time-consuming. A real challenge is when the registrant does not attend, so they can’t provide their side or give any additional evidence that could help the panel.
Tell us a surprising fact about yourself.
My passion is interior design and up-cycling furniture - my home is a mix of Irish cottage and Scandinavian design.
