Approved education and training programmes

Approved programmes

We currently approve programmes in the 16 professions which we regulate as well as a number of post-registration areas.

The programmes on the register cover all the professions and post registration areas that we regulate and meet our education standards and individuals who successfully complete one of these programmes meet the proficiency standards for the profession or post registration area that the programme is concerned with.

We usually visit programmes to ensure they meet our standards through an approval visit. When we carry out an approval visit, we are represented by a panel of visitors. Our rules state that at least one of the visitors selected to review a programme must be a professional appropriate to the profession or entitlement that the programme concerns. We also ensure that the panel includes a lay visitor wherever possible. We produce reports at the end of each visit which provides a record of the visit’s outcomes. Any conditions placed on a programme must be met before we can approve or continue to approve it. If a programme is approved by us, it means any conditions outlined in an approval visit report have now been met.

link Programme approval outside the UK

Programmes delivered by UK education providers outside of the UK may be eligible for approval if the UK education provider is directly responsible for the delivery of that programme outside of the UK.
